An epic race

The Double Century (DC) has come and gone. For the past 6 months me and a couple of friends set out prepare for this gruiling race which takes place the Swellendam area which is about 2 hours outside of Cape Town, SA. It was everything that I expected it to be and more. No matter how muh training one puts in, a 200+km race is always going to be tough.

The first half of the ride went very well. We managed to get to the half  mark  inside the time that we aiming for. The second half of the race was where everything went wrong. We started having major mechanical break downs. One breaking his handle bars, the other having his seat come lose and a whole of blown tires and punctures. We wasted almost an hour with all of these issues. This meant that we were longer on the road that our bodies were use to. This meant that almost all of bodies started cramping in the final  few kilometers of the race.

We still managed to come in at under 8 hours....
